About
Many people come to me at a time in their life when they feel stuck because they have experienced a loss, carry trauma or are moving through a major life transition.
They could also be in the midst of making a decision and feeling confused. All these things can invite stress and often grief to move in and cause disruption.
Long before I became a counsellor I was a teacher, worked in publishing and embraced a natural health business, which I co-owned with my mother. Through all of these careers, I have offered a confidential ear to many people. As a fellow human, I too have experienced my fair share of anxiety, losses and struggles… which I believe enable me to be approachable and share empathy and understanding towards others, as an equal… not an expert.
Along with a generalist counselling qualification and a Pastoral Care Certificate, I am privileged to have studied with world grief expert David Kessler (Grief.com), with whom I completed his Grief Educator CertificationTM program. David is a world leader in loss and grief and graduates of his program are trained to deliver his unique philosophies and approach to people who are grieving any type of loss. It was through this program I learned how losses can drive our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, often without realising it is the result of grief. How much influence this can have on us is underestimated. The good news is… you can learn to grow through your grief so that hope and renewal are invited and welcomed back into your life.
You're in safe hands...
I provide a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can be heard, understood and supported.
Together we can find more hope, possibilities, power, meaning and change…
As a person-centred and trauma informed counsellor, I draw on strategies from many disciplines such as Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness. Understanding and working with your needs support my belief that you are the expert in your own life and with encouragement, know the answers that best serve you.
“Our struggles are something we learn to grow around rather than get over, so that our life can still be meaningful and fulfilling.”
